The code of the 13-digit box code label consists of three parts: the manufacturer identification code, the product item code, and the check code. It is divided into four structures (see Table 1), and can use EAN/UPC barcode, ITF-14 barcode or GS1 -128 bar code representation, see Figure 1, Figure 2 and Figure 3 for details.
Table 1 13-digit code structure of box code

The manufacturer identification code consists of 7-10 digits, and is assigned and managed by the National Article Number Management Agency. The first 3 digits of the manufacturer’s identification code are the identification codes assigned by the International Article Numbering Association to the National Article Numbering Management Agency, and are called prefix codes. The commodity item code consists of 5 to 2 digits and is generally compiled by the manufacturer, but it can also be compiled by the national article code management agency. The check code is a digit, which is used to check the accuracy of the coding and avoid the occurrence of error codes.

Note a: When using ITF-14 bar code, the 13-digit code should be added with a number “0”; when using GS1-128 bar code, the 13-digit code should be displayed with a number “0” before the 13-digit code. Application identifier “01”.
